"STIK" Series Kits and Plans

Beginning Jan 1st 2003, production of Modelair-Tech kits will shift to AeroCraft. Modelair-Tech will no longer stock any kits, please see AeroCraft for kits and/or plans of those kits. Modelair-Tech will continue to sell plans of all our stik series including those kits made by Aerocraft for those scratch builders among you.

Most of the following models are all designed for "speed 400" motors (Mabuchi/Johnson 380). They are unique in that they are almost entirely built from 1/8 by 1/4 in. strip wood (some ply is needed for motor mounts, dihedral braces, and landing gear mounts). There are no wing ribs to cut, no bulkheads to shape, not much to do but glue sticks together. Kits contain plans, sticks, laser cut plywood parts (if required), landing gear wire (where used) and instructions.

All these kits are available as plans only for those who like to make their own kits!!!

The Slowmowatt "slow flyer", and Skimpy sport model, utilize the 280 motor/geardrive instead of the "400" size motors.

Most of our other stik models would use either the 6v version of the speed 400 or the 7.2v. Use 7 cells on the 6v motor for spirited performance. Choose the 7.2v motor for longer slightly slower flights. Use 8 cells on the 7.2v motor and get back the performance of the 6v on 7 cells for only a small weight gain. Use either the Gunther 5 x 4 push-on prop or any of the 6 x 3 folding props from Graupner or Robbe.

The Le Parquewatt and Elipstik 460 fly best with "our" 400EN (Enduro)motor and the Gunther 7 x 6 prop on 6-7 cells. The 400EN motor is a low KV (rpm per volt) motor that can swing this large of a prop without a gearbox.

In all cases where a speed 400 motor is recommended, battery packs of choice are made of the Sanyo KR-600AE or N-500AR cells. Most models will accept "flat packs". Though you may find that a 3-over-4 or a square 8 cell pack may be more appropriate.

Models that utilize a geared or direct drive Speed 280 motor should use any of the following 7- 8 pack of Sanyo Cadnica cells; N-150N, N-350AAC. NiMh (Nickel metal-hydride) packs can be used for longer flights with only a small weight gain. We suggest using the AP-270AAH and the AP-600AAH cells available from at least www.batteriesamerica.com
